Theatre

Purdue University in West Lafayette

Students receive a solid foundation in all aspects of theatre as part of a well-rounded liberal arts education. Working as part of a team, students learn to communicate and collaborate in a creative environment toward the realization of a theatrical production.

Students may choose to focus in acting, costume design, lighting design, or scenic design. Students participate in numerous departmental productions to gain practical experience, develop portfolios, and connect and apply ideas and theories from their coursework and life.

Theatre is the ideal program for the student who desires a general theatre education with a variety of experiences that will serve them in their future endeavors.

All liberal arts majors prepare students with the skills identified as contributing to managerial success:  communicating and listening well, possessing insights into others, creative/critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to make connections across complex ideas.
