Supply Chain & Sales Engineering Technology

Manage the global business processes that control the flow of goods, information and services from companies that produce them to the customers who use them.

Classes provide a systems approach, enabling students to comprehend how each link of the supply chain interacts with the next. Hone your skills in logistics, leadership, business analysis, communication and data processing. Classes incorporate SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.

The Purdue Polytechnic Institute is one of 10 academic colleges at Purdue University. The Polytechnic specializes in team-based labs where you’ll test ideas, take things apart and put them back together — only better. You’ll learn side-by-side with professors who have worked in the industry and thrive on combining theory, imagination and real-world application. In this innovative environment, you'll learn by doing - gaining deep technical knowledge and applied skills in your chosen discipline coupled with problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication and leadership skills employers desire.

Techies Today: Jim Tanoos

Jim Tanoos, Purdue professor

Jim Tanoos, clinical associate professor at Purdue Polytechnic Vincennes, teaches supply chain management, with emphasis on globalization and leadership. In addition to learning how his career progressed from an internship involving work at Minnesota Twins games in concession stands (an important part of the supply chain for fans, he says) to various teaching positions and master's and doctoral degrees, Jim helps us understand the basics of supply chain management and why going on a study abroad trip to Germany, Czech Republic and the Netherlands provides students with unique insight into this increasingly global field of study. The trip to Europe provides key lessons in culture, history and economics, which Jim says are essential parts of supply chain management.
