Your Application timeline

Summer — Early Fall

Outline your essay

Review essay prompts and start planning how you’ll share what you most want us to know without duplicating information in your application. If applying to the John Martinson Honors College, you’ll have two additional essays.

Summer — Early Fall

Make a list of your accomplishments

Track your activities, leadership experience and accomplishments outside of the classroom.

Aug. 1

Common App opens

Begin your application in the Common App. This also is where you’ll indicate your interest in the John Martinson Honors College. If including an alternate major, carefully choose a less selective major than your primary choice.

Early Fall

Complete ACT, SAT or CLT testing

Gather your best scores from each section across testing dates to self-report your final score on your application. Purdue has no preference between the ACT, SAT and CLT — be sure to submit one full score from one of these three tests.

Summer — Early Fall

Make your plan

Build a balanced list of 5-10 colleges with both target and reach schools. Track each school’s application and scholarship deadlines, and create a dedicated email address to keep all college communications organized.

Aug. — Oct.

Visit campus

Experience Purdue for yourself. Meet with your college(s) of interest and ask any remaining questions, tour campus and housing, and get a feel for life as a Boilermaker.

Fall

Discuss costs before applying

Set aside time to chat as a family or meet with your family’s financial planner to discuss budget options and be sure to submit your FAFSA in order to be considered for financial aid.

By Nov. 1

Apply Early Action

Submit your complete application by Nov. 1 to meet our priority deadline for competitive majors, to be considered for our full range of merit scholarships and apply to the John Martinson Honors College.

By Dec. 15

Submit your Purdue Scholarship Application and FAFSA

Apply for Purdue scholarships and submit your FAFSA by Dec. 15 to be considered for the university’s need-based scholarships.

Jan. 15

Last day to apply

Submit your application to meet our regular decision deadline and, for qualifying students, to be considered for the Boiler Gold Grant.

Three Weeks — Three Opportunities
