Program Summary 

Purdue’s financial counseling and planning major prepares you to help individuals and families achieve financial security through expert advice and education. Our top-ranked major combines coursework in personal finance, investments, tax law, retirement planning, and risk management with hands-on experience using industry tools. You’ll learn from faculty who blend theory, research and real-world practice. The major is the only one on campus registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board, and completion satisfies the education requirement for CFP® certification — the industry’s most respected certification. Students also complete internships and case competitions and have opportunities to connect with employers and professional networks.

You should pursue the most rigorous high school curriculum available to you. Succeeding in challenging courses will allow you to be a stronger candidate for Purdue’s competitive admission process and better prepare you for college success.

Transfer to Financial Counseling and Planning

Purdue admits to individual majors. Transfer students must meet Purdue’s overall transfer criteria, as well as any major-specific requirements.
