International Baccalaureate (IB) Credit

Eligibility for IB Credit
- Credit may be awarded for both Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL) IB exams.
- To receive credit, you must request that your official IB scores be sent electronically directly to Purdue University West Lafayette from the IB organization.
Scoring and Policy Updates
- Effective fall 2025, IB exams are scored on a 1–7 scale.
- Students must earn a score of 4 or higher to receive Purdue credit.
- IB transfer credit policies are subject to change without notice.

Understanding Undistributed Credit
- Courses listed as “1XXXX” transfer as undistributed credit, meaning Purdue does not have a direct course equivalent or the minimum grade requirement for course equivalency has not been met.
- Undistributed credit appears on your Purdue student record as credit hours within the respective subject area.
- Following admission, consult with your Purdue academic advisor to determine how undistributed credit may be best used to meet curriculum requirements within your degree plan.
