Best advice I received going into college
When I came home for Thanksgiving my freshman year, I told my parents I wanted to transfer to a local college and change my major. I was homesick, hadn’t found my people yet and thought being closer to home in a familiar major was the answer. But my parents told me to stick it out, push myself socially and give it more time. They said we’d revisit the idea in May if I still felt the same. They were right — I just needed time to adjust to my first real “new” experience.
Favorite campus spot
I absolutely love to stroll down Third Street. The John Martinson Honors College and Residences, Bechtel Innovation Design Center, Krach Leadership Center and Third Street Suites, combined with historic buildings like the Black Cultural Center and Windsor Hall, make this stretch of campus full of energy and students. Then, add in the Edison lights, fire pits and lawn chairs, and Third Street is just dreamy!
