Best advice going into college
Everyone has something to teach you — try asking open-ended questions and see what you learn! As you’re getting to know new people on campus, it can be challenging being in an unfamiliar space where you may not know anyone and where no one knows you, especially as you are discovering who you are throughout your college journey. I recommend finding people who support and encourage your growth and grow alongside you, both in your peers as well as the staff, faculty and Greater Lafayette community. The Purdue network is an extensive and amazing resource available to students. Don’t be afraid to take advantage of opportunities to connect while you’re on campus!
Favorite campus spot
It’s too hard to pick one! I love visiting the cultural centers. They’re warm and welcoming, host stellar events and over the years they’ve created spaces for students to do a variety of activities together — from studying to karaoke and making art, to name a few standouts! During the winter, my favorite campus spot is by the Purdue Memorial Union fireplace. In the summer, I love the Purdue Memorial Union Free Summer Concert series with local musicians playing outdoor on the patio. And all year round, I love playing music at Elliot Hall’s JamSpace, equipped with a sound board, mics, keyboard and drum set, available for students to reserve for practice sessions.
