Questions - General

  • Will the fall semester be online?

  • Can I get a refund for my Enrollment Deposit if I discover I do not want to start at Purdue for the fall or summer semester?

    The $400 deposit is nonrefundable.
  • Can I request a gap year because of the uncertainty around the Coronavirus?

If you are considering a GAP year due to the Coronavirus, please contact Admissions to discuss your options.
  • Will Summer Start be on campus?

Summer Start will move ahead as planned, on campus.
  • Will Early Start be on campus?

Early Start will move ahead as planned. Students who intend to do Early Start on campus will be able to do so. Students who planned to do Early Start online can continue with that plan.
  • Has the Early Start deadline been extended?

Yes, students should switch to Early Start as soon as they are ready, but the final deadline has been extended to June 12. Students will be allowed to move back to the fall semester without penalty if we need to transition to remote instruction.
  • Is the Summer College for High School Students program still happening?

Summer College for High School Students will be conducted remotely.
  • If I cannot come to campus and I have to be enrolled in a fully online fall term do I have to pay full tuition?

Tuition rates and fees for students who have been impacted by COVID-19 and cannot resume in-person coursework on the West Lafayette campus are currently being reviewed.

Questions - Test Scores, Transfer Credit and High School Grades

  • Will test scores (SAT/ACT) be required for 2021 applicants?

A complete application to Purdue includes SAT or ACT test scores. Visit the admissions requirement webpage to view the full list.
  • Will you be accepting Advanced Placement (AP) credit?

Purdue will continue to accept AP credit as usual; see Purdue's AP credit transfer criteria.
  • Does the cancellation of IB exams affect my admission to Purdue and am I still able to receive credit?

The cancellation of IB exams alone will not affect your admission to Purdue. Purdue University will continue to award IB credit for results we are provided by the IB organization. You can review IB credit criteria here.

  • How will Purdue look at pass/not pass grades on my final high school transcript?

Purdue will honor whatever process your school has adopted in order for you to complete your semester and earn your diploma.
  • Will I be able to get transfer credit for my dual enrollment course if I receive a Pass for the grade?

It depends. You should confirm that the course could transfer to Purdue. Purdue regulations require a C- or better. If the transfer credit transcript indicates that a Pass/P is C- or greater, it will transfer.

Questions - Admitted Students Living Outside the U.S.

  • If things get better or my embassy begins accepting appointments, can I get an I-20 for fall?

With the suspension of normal visa processing; the closing of U.S. embassies and consulates around the globe; and current travel restrictions to the United States, it will be a great challenge for our students from abroad to safely arrive on campus in time to begin the fall semester. Therefore, Purdue University has suspended issuing visa eligibility documents to new beginning undergraduate students (I-20/DS-2019) for the fall 2020 semester.
  • What should I do about housing for spring 2021?

A housing contract will be available for the Spring 2021 semester in October. You will receive more information and instructions closer to that time.
  • I signed a housing contract for fall but will now be taking courses online in the fall. What do I need to do about my housing contract?

International students who know now they will not be attending on-campus for fall 2020 should go into the housing portal and cancel their contracts.   For those international students who will plan to attend on-campus for spring 2021, will need to watch for the housing application portal to open in October to apply for spring only housing.   For students who are having issues cancelling their contracts online can email and include full name and PUID number.
